There are a multitude of advantages for using precast concrete. That’s why at Graham’s Precast Concrete Products, our preferred choice for concrete is—you guessed it—precast. It’s the preferred choice in the industry, and it’s the preferred choice by us. Take a look at our blog below to learn more about the advantages of precast concrete.

WHAT IS PRECAST CONCRETE?

Precast concrete is when concrete is cast and cured in a controlled environment and then transported to the construction site to be placed. This begins by pouring and moulding concrete over rebar or wire and is then cured offsite. One of the main advantages of this is that the concrete can be produced and set without the intervention of weather.

OUR PRECAST CONCRETE PRODUCTS

At Graham’s Precast Concrete Products, we construct and install a wide variety of precast concrete products for residential and commercial clients. Our products are designed and constructed to meet Australian and NZ standards. These include:

We also have 4 crane trucks that can be used for delivery and placement for any of these products.

ADVANTAGES OF PRECAST CONCRETE

There is an extensive list of advantages as to why precast concrete is preferred in comparison to on-site pouring. These include:

  • The land only needs to be excavated as needed (no need for on-site forms)
  • Concrete is formed in a controlled environment (indoors), which means weather doesn’t interfere with construction process
  • Strength is graded and determined before the product leaves the plant, ensuring each piece of precast concrete meets consistent criteria across the board
  • Because precast concrete is built in a controlled environment, the product must pass strict protocols before being transported to the location
  • Maximised material efficiency—preventing on-site wastage
  • Efficient scheduling—without logistical errors that can occur on-site, products are constructed in a controlled environment and scheduling is much less likely to be altered due to environmental factors
  • Versatility—factory-made means a variety of motifs, finishes and colours are available
  • Cost-effective—because precast concrete is mass-produced and standardised, the products are typically a fixed price and won’t be altered by on-site labour or environmental interruptions
